Day One: Arrived without a hitch... Or not

0630 Wake up, 0815 Leave house, 0915 Get on train, 1057 Get to airport, 1335 Get 1st flight, 1715 Get 2nd flight, 1835 Get into Vienna, Drink, Eat, Sleep...

Not asking too much there am I? Also, if you know me or my mother, the getting up and out the door would be what is expected to go wrong- but no. Lufthansa has other ideas!

So due to the severe weather* in Frankfurt the plane was 25 minuted late getting in. By the time that the passengers had got on, and we had waited for a space on the runway, it was up to 35. the flight was cramped, muggy and loud thanks to a child who managed to gargle as it wailed, for the last 20 minutes of the flight. As impressive as the noises were, I really wished it would shut up!!

By the time we got to Frankfurt, the connecting flights had begun boarding so I had to be booked on to another flight.

1840 Austrian Airline flight booked.

At this point I found it quite funny "This could only happen to me!" and "Murphy's Law!" were thought with a sigh and a shrug..

Delay: Planned time of Departure 1840, New time of Departure 1915

By this point I am grouchy, the flight isn't leaving until the time I am suppose to be in Vienna.. with bags.. probably walking out of the door..

The screen then goes blank: I tell myself not to worry, it will just be a glitch in the system and will be back on soon...No such luck! The weather was too severe for the plane to land and had been redirected to Stuttgart...Ballache for those wanting to be here!

And us really, we are having to be rebooked onto one of two flights- either a 2010 or a 2150.

By this point I am exhausted- on the promise of a big roast in Vienna, |I haven't eaten yet. I have been up too long and I just want to go home! When they try to book me in on the later flight, I cry..not my proudest moment but being a child got the job done and I am booked on the 'early flight'

Although I was expecting to be told that it was going to be cancelled again, I managed to get on and in to Vienna FINALLY :)

I am hoping that this is not going to be normal for me in Austria, and the rest of my time will run a lot smoother!

Fingers Crossed!

Bis Bald xx
* There were apparently electrical storms- I thought it was just raining a bit..
